Individual Instruction - Throwing on The Potter's Wheel Workshop

Monday days, Tuesday Days, or Wednesday Days - Scheduled APPOINTMENT / six week workshop

We schedule this class based on your schedule once a week, for six weeks.

Ages: Including Teens or Adults

Price: $400 for the 6 week workshop (this includes10 kg bag of clay, glazes, supplies and firing.)

This individuated workshop mirrors the group workshops but allows 1:1 instruction. This class is available for beginners looking to learn pottery in a quiet specialized setting as well as advanced students wanting to up thier game on refined techniques.

These specific workshops focus on refining technique and sensing. The curriculum is adapted . The six week workshop will guide you step-by-step through throwing technique, glazing and firing. This is a fun and informal workshop for brand new to moderately experienced students.

There are six wheels now so we are able to accept so many more. If the class does fill up we can now offer more workshops! We will be offering more advanced workshops and day intensives in Feb-March.

Cozy on up to the Bodhi Tree Art Studio for our Winter Wonderland Workshop Days! We are set up with four cool creation stations in drawing, painting, crafting and building with projects that change from workshop to workshop! We also have art games, board games, card games, Picasso Tiles, ring toss and more for when we need a short break from creating. We’ll break for lunch so pack a good one! (Please do any necessary heating at home and pack in a thermos if lunch is hot.)

We know our shorties are busy on winter weekends and weather gets weird up here in NEPA, so we created these one-day workshops to make things easier on all of us! Please register separately for each Workshop Day your little would like to attend, and give us any information we should know (please include age) in the message. We can’t wait to see you all!

Throwing on the potter’s wheel is very hard to describe for those who have not experienced it before. The best explanation we’ve heard, is that it is a combination of meditation, riding a bicycle and solitary mud wrestling at the same time! No matter how you describe it, it’s great fun! More importantly, anyone can learn to be a successful potter... Yes, anyone! These specific workshops will focus on refining technique and sensing. The curriculum will have a “back to the basics” focus that will propel your skills to the next level. The six week workshop will guide you step-by-step through throwing technique, glazing and firing. Ceramic Hand Building Workshop

Wednesday Evenings Workshop: Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18, & 25 6:30p.m. to 8:30 P.M.

Ages: Students 14 and up (Adults and Teens)

Price: $295 for the 6 week workshop (this includes a 22.5LB bag of clay, glazes, supplies and firing.)

Students will be introduced to building ceramic forms by hand. The focus is on pinch pot, coil building, slab / tile work and other sculptural techniques in building forms, adding texture, colorants, glazing and firing. We will have options to build functional to fanciful pieces. Those who have thrown on the wheel may be very surprised on how these techniques improve on your throwing on the potters wheel skills. This class is also a great introduction to clay and will be adapted to serve both novices to moderatly advance students. Each class will build upon the next and is a great way to stay warm and creative in this cold winter.
